Jane (L), Carla (R)
Jane and Carla are the filmmakers of Love in Cold Blood, starring Mildred and Henry from Southland Museum. The film is part of a Masters’ Degree in Natural History Filmmaking and Science Communication at Otago University.
For more information on tuatara have a look at the Victoria University Tuatara website or our Tuatara page.
Jane Adcroft is from Perth, Western Australia. She studied Zoology and worked as a Zoologist in the Pilbara and Kimberly regions of Western Australia. Jane grew up on a rich diet of sunday afternoon BBC wildlife doccos which fueled her love for wildlife filmmaking. She is completely freezing in Dunedin, but thinks getting to hold a tuatara, see albatross, film sea lions and the occasional sparrow is well worth the cold!
Carla Braun-Elwert is from Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. She fell into filmmaking after emerging from a Biochemistry degree, in pursuit of the outside world. Her interests are far too many and as such she is easily distracted by reading, writing, running, mountains, anything ski-related, Germany, art, baking,…and Jane!
And here’s a bit about our movie stars, the Unlikely Couple-
Mildred has been around for ages, though we’re not exactly sure where she’s been. She’s like a rock, with eyes…
Henry is refreshed and rearing to go after a recent “personality transplant”- at the perhaps young age of 111.
